What Is Microneedling with PRP?
Microneedling with PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) is a cosmetic treatment that stimulates collagen production by rolling fine needles over the skin and applying platelets, which are one of the components of blood. PRP contains proteins, including growth factors and cytokines. These proteins help skin tissue repair itself.
How it works?
After a small blood draw, your clinician will apply a topical anesthetic to your face. Then they’ll pass over it with a microneedling pen or derma-roller. These devices prick tiny holes in your skin, stimulating its natural healing processes – and creating channels for the PRP. In addition, the tiny breaks in the skin stimulate collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin which allows for facial rejuvenation by reducing the appearance of facial wrinkles and scars.
PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) is derived from a small sample of your own blood. PPR is used because it contains a variety of growth factors and other beneficial proteins.

How many Microneedling Treatments will I need?
It is recommended to have a minimum of 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart for the most effective results. Maintenance treatments can be repeated as often as desired.
Is the Microneedling treatment painful?
As with any treatment at Vancouver Laser & Skin Care Centre, a variety of comfort measures are available. Numbing cream is unnecessary but can be applied before the treatment to ensure a comfortable experience.
What will my skin look like after treatment?
Your skin will likely be red and feel warm similar to a sunburn. This feeling should subside over the next 24 hours with possible residual redness that can last for up to 7 days. You may feel a sandpaper-like texture on the skin and there is a possibility that your face will show a grid-like stamping effect, this will naturally slough off over the next 7 days.
How long should it take before I see results?
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting, more significant results, will become visible after 3-6 treatments. The condition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments from college production.
Do I need to do anything after my treatment?
As a rule of thumb after any treatment at Skinspire Laser & Skin Clinic, you must wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Cleanse with a gentle cleanser (we love ZO Gentle Cleanser) if you have flaking or peeling do not pick or exfoliate and avoid the use of products containing retinol or acid for at least 5 days.
