Blackhead / Whiteheads

Struggling with blackheads and whiteheads even after using various cosmetic products? Consider aesthetic treatments for a better solution.

What are Blackheads and Whiteheads?

Blackheads and whiteheads occur when sebum clogs pores, forming a plug. The exposed plug turns black and becomes a blackhead, while hidden plugs appear white and are whiteheads.

Whiteheads

Whiteheads are small white tips that can be found on the skin, usually on the nose, forehead, and chin where the glands are active.

Blackheads

Blackheads are caused by sebum clogging in the pores due to inadequate cleansing. The accumulated sebum oxidizes and turns black. If left unchecked, the blackheads can grow bigger and harder, making them harder to remove.

Blackheads and whiteheads are both types of acne. Whiteheads occur when a mixture of sebum, bacteria, and dead skin cells accumulates in a pore, forming a white pit. If this mixture is exposed to air through an opening, it oxidizes and turns black, forming a blackhead. Blackheads are also known as “open comedones” and whiteheads are known as “closed comedones.

Causes

Poor face cleaning can lead to clogged pores and the development of blackheads and whiteheads. Using rich skincare products without proper cleansing can also contribute to this issue. Overactive sebum secretion can cause whiteheads even with proper cleansing.

Symptoms

Blackheads are plugged pores with black or brown material that is exposed to air. They can make your skin feel rough and hard, and if you have blackheads, your skin is likely oily. There are three types of blackheads that are common.

Real blackheads

This blackhead is bigger and feels bumpy. It can be squeezed to release sebum.

Vellus hair-type blackheads

The Vellus hair-type blackhead is a rare type of blackhead found in less than 5% of the population. It usually appears near the nose or in front of the ear and feels prickly. Small black hairs grow inside, and hair removal or photorejuvenation therapies are recommended for treatment.

Sebum filament-type blackheads

Blackheads with a black, smooth surface have enlarged pores because of excess sebum buildup. They are hard to remove but squeezing them may release small filament-like sebum.

Chemical peel, offered by Skinspire Laser&Skin Clinic is a skin treatment that uses acidic solution to remove the outermost layer of skin cells. This process encourages skin cell renewal, improves the condition of the skin, and can also help with issues such as acne, fine lines, blackheads, and uneven skin tone.

How does Chemical Peel work

A Chemical Peel Solution can separate cells in the outer layer of skin by dissolving oil particles, removing excess keratin buildup, and preventing clogged hair follicles. It also stimulates skin cell regeneration and collagen production to improve skin texture, minimize pores, and brighten the skin.

Clear + Brilliant is a type of laser that stimulates skin from within, resulting in significant improvements. It requires less downtime than other lasers as it creates small microchannels in the skin.

How does Thread Lift work

Clear + Brilliant® is given with a cream to numb your skin. The treatment takes 20-30 minutes and your provider uses a laser to make tiny injuries under your skin. This causes your skin to repair itself and make new collagen. To help the process, your own blood’s platelet-rich plasma can be applied to the skin.
