Are Dermal Fillers Painful?
The typical dermal filler procedures require no anesthetic as most dermal fillers contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic. On occasional topical numbing agents are used. The procedure is generally considered relatively painless and involves a few tiny injections directly into the skin that takes between 15–30 minutes.
How long do fillers last?
Dermal fillers last for varying degrees of time depending on the active ingredient in the filler and the recipient’s reaction to the fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers dissolve more quickly and typically last between 6 months to a year. While Poly-L-lactic acid fillers are more resilient and last between 1 and 3 years.

What is the recovery time for Dermal Fillers?
Most patients can return to their daily activities after receiving Dermal Fillers. However, they are advised to wait a day before strenuous activity or exercise. Patients are also asked to ice the area to reduce swelling and to stay out of the sun as much as possible over the next week.
How long does it take to get Dermal Fillers?
Typically, dermal filler procedures involve a series of small injections and take between 15 to 30 minutes. Although it may take longer if the patient is getting injections to more locations in higher quantities.
Is there anything that should be avoided prior to getting Dermal Fillers?
Patients are advised to avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, and fish oil supplements a week prior to receiving Dermal Fillers. These medications and supplements may increase the likelihood of bleeding and bruising after the procedure. Patients should consult their General Practitioner prior to the cessation of taking these medications if they have been prescribed.
